The aim of chiropractic is simple-to remove interference from the spine. Dr. Avise works to do so for the purpose of allowing your nervous system to work at its full potential. Then, your nervous system will allow your body to heal itself.
Dr. Avise has a range of chiropractic techniques including traditional manual adjustments, drop tables and the ArthroStim® instrument.

A chiropractic adjustment can make you feel so much better. Your body does not want to be out of alignment, and that’s exactly what an adjustment can help address. It is also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation. The adjustment refers to the manipulation of the vertebrae that have abnormal movements and are not functioning properly. A chiropractic adjustment will assist in fixing these issues.
The goal of chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, increase the range of motion, reduce nerve irritability, and improve mobility. Our compassionate and qualified chiropractor will work with you to relieve this pain and get you back to being pain free every single day.
Although many people visit their chiropractor and have an adjustment when something feels out of alignment, a regular visit will help you avoid any pain in the future and will keep your body feeling great all day long.
If you are having one of those days when you are not in the best mood, an adjustment may actually help. Your body will feel much better, which will naturally improve your mood.
Corrective exercises are the use of bodily movements and/or postures to restore desirable changes in diseased or injured tissues. The corrective exercises are movement strategies that minimize or eliminate compensation. Corrective exercises should precede more integrated exercises, because they can cue the patient’s motor system to respond in a more desirable way and assist in removing or improving biomechanical constraints.
When you get home at the end of the day, do your feet ache?
After a run, do you feel like your body isn’t getting the support it needs?
The solution might be easier than you think. At Avise Chiropractic, we provide custom-made orthotics that benefit people from all walks of life.
There are a few signs that you need orthotics, such as low back pain and knee pain. Anyone who participates in sports that are tough on their bodies, such as running, can also wear orthotics.
Foot Levelers Orthotics
We work with Foot Levelers and use their computerized scanning machine to take multiple images of your foot. These images are sent electronically to the Foot Levelers laboratory, where your orthotics are made to suit your specific needs.
Covered by Insurance
Most of the time, insurance will pay for a pair of orthotics every year. It can be a good idea to replace them regularly, as your feet can change. We will rescan your feet and make sure each new pair you get suits your needs.
If your insurance doesn’t have orthotics coverage, you can pay out of pocket or use your HSA card.

Who can benefit from massage?
Everyone! That’s because there’s nothing harmful about massage. This safe, drug-free modality is highly beneficial for people of all ages.
Do I have to be a chiropractic patient to get a massage?
You do not need to be a patient to schedule a massage at our office. In fact, we have patients of other chiropractors in the area who come here for their massages because they love what our massage therapists do! If you are a patient here, however, Dr. Avise may recommend massage as a part of your care plan. It works hand-in-glove with chiropractic. We find that people get better faster while receiving chiropractic and massage therapy together.
Because I’m already in pain, will it hurt to get a massage?
Although you may feel you’re in too much pain to receive massage therapy, our qualified massage therapists know how deep to go, and what each person needs instead of creating more pain during or after the massage.
Will I get the same massage as everyone else?
No, no two massages are the same. Your therapist will provide a customized massage to address your particular issue.
How should I prepare for my first session?
If you are a new patient coming in for your first session, we recommend that you wear loose-fitting clothing that you can move freely in. That’s because your MT will need to have you move during various assessments. Communication with your therapist is also key. If you have any concerns or questions at any time during the massage, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Will I need to undress for my massage?
You can undress to your level of comfort. Some patients choose to undress completely while others opt to leave some clothing on such as underwear. Rest assured that you will be appropriately draped throughout your session.
A well-adjusted child tends to be a healthy child. The team at Avise Chiropractic loves to see kids coming in the office who are happy and healthy. Parents tell us all the time that their child seems to sleep better, digest their food properly, and doesn’t suffer from common childhood problems since starting chiropractic care.
The Importance of an Optimally Functioning Nervous System
Chiropractic is about the nervous system and a child’s nervous system is growing exponentially every day. And we need to make sure that it’s free to grow without interference or impingement.
Some parents believe that if there’s no pain, there’s no problem. But many times kids won’t complain or if they do, those complaints get ignored. In infants, for example, we see colic, chronic ear tugging and fussiness. Those symptoms usually indicate there’s interference in the nervous system so the baby’s unable to find comfort. That’s why it’s a good idea to have your child checked regularly so we can identify any issues.
We Are Here for Your Family
All ages of kids are welcome here, from newborn babies to teenagers. We’ve even had parents drop by with their little one on the way home from the birthing center!
Some kids we see are struggling with issues like bed-wetting, which can go on for years if untreated. Others are infants with torticollis who struggle to nurse on one or both sides. Some babies have colic and tend to fuss even though there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong. Know that all you have to do is come in with your child and we will take great care of you.
A Parent’s Testimonial About Our Care
Our son has a neuromuscular disorder and so we came to Dr. DJ to help with preventative maintenance for scoliosis and other spinal deformities. I know that because of the chiropractic care he has not had very much increase in his scoliosis. Our overall experience has been wonderful. Dr. DJ and all his staff are very kind and friendly. We come see Dr. DJ at least once a month and if anything he is a trusted friend that I feel comfortable with taking care of my whole family. We love Avise Chiropractic!”
Benefits of Chiropractic for Kids
Here are some of the most common benefits that we see in children who get adjusted:
- Improved digestion
- Better sleep
- Less fussiness
- Heightened immunity
- Better growth and function
When a baby or young child is adjusted, all that is needed is a touch of the fingertips or a handheld instrument. Babies can even sleep right through their adjustment. When your child is older, if they feel nervous about care, we will never force them to get adjusted. They can visit us as many times as they like until they feel ready for an adjustment.
We do find, however, that most kids have a great experience here. We often hear them ask, “When can we go back?!”
Why would a child need chiropractic care?
Many parents don’t think to have their children’s nervous system checked because they believe that chiropractic is about neck pain, back pain, headaches, etc. Chiropractic can help keep a child’s nervous system healthy, which, in turn, can promote optimal overall health.
Can chiropractic care benefit young athletes?
Yes. We see many late elementary and early middle school athletes. Nowadays it seems kids are starting to play on select teams even in third or fourth grade. And so there’s a lot of bumps and bruises that happen just from being an athlete.
That’s why it’s important that these young athletes get checked, not because they necessarily have pain, but to make sure everything is functioning properly-not only in their nervous system but in their musculoskeletal system to reduce the risk of injury.
How do you put children at ease?
Our office is fun and lighthearted and Dr. Avise is kind and approachable, never stuffy. Children always have a great experience here and look forward to coming back.
Is an adjustment painful for a child?
No, not at all! Whether we’re seeing children or adults, we provide gentle and effective adjustments. There is never any pain involved.
How often should my child come in for care?
It depends. Some parents bring their child in for wellness adjustments to help their child stay healthy. Others may bring them in more frequently if their child has a specific issue going on. In cases like that where active care is required we will share that with the parent.
Here at Avise Chiropractic, we offer a conservative approach to treating pregnant women. Our prenatal care is gentle and safe. We aim to alleviate the stress and strains of pregnancy while improving comfort for both the mother and baby. We understand the physical changes that come with pregnancy, and we offer relief without using any drugs.
Worker’s compensation is a form of insurance that replaces lost wages and pays for medical and chiropractic care for people injured on the job. It typically covers a number of injuries that can happen to nearly any worker. These injuries may occur as a result of a slip and fall accident, tripping over a hazard or on an unsafe surface, or falling off a ladder. For some workers, workers’ compensation will cover injuries that happen while the worker is driving or traveling as part of his or her work duties.
Musculoskeletal disorders affect a person’s muscles, bones, joints and connective tissue, such as tendons and ligaments.
A number of musculoskeletal disorders can keep a worker off the job, including:
- Sprains, strains, and tears
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Carpal tunnel syndrome and other repetitive stress injuries
- Headaches and migraines
One of the most important elements of chiropractic care is diagnostics. Chiropractic radiology is a tool utilized in care as a diagnostic practice to rule out pathology (such as possible tumor or fracture) and/or an additional aid to determine where to adjust the spine. Chiropractors rely on a variety of diagnostic techniques in order to fully understand what is occurring in the patient’s musculoskeletal system, and how a given treatment intervention could bring about positive results in each patient.
